Our family estate, Bavarian Lion Vineyards, is located in Knights Valley, Northern Sonoma County. We have been farming top quality Bordeaux varietals since 1996, selling much of our fruit to prestigious wineries in both Sonoma and Napa Valley. In 2005, we decided to reserve our highest quality grapes for our own brand, Ehret. Our Winemaker, Erin Green was brought on in 2014 to further our commitment to strengthening our enology program. All our certified sustainable vineyard practices involve a minimalist approach. Grapes are planted to just under 1/3 of the entire ranch holdings, leaving over half the ranch as natural wilderness for wildlife and insects. We believe in cultivating flowers and plants that attract beneficial insects and allowing natural cover crops to replenish the soil’s nutrients.

Our ecologically comprehensive approach to crafting great wine starts in our vineyards. All of our vineyards are water-efficient by recycling rainwater to irrigate the vines. No well water or on-stream diversions are used for vineyard irrigation. In addition, our vineyards are also completely off the electrical grid, as electrical power is supplied by our solar panels on the vineyard ranch.
