Hospitality Sales Associate

The Assistant Hospitality Manager is responsible for providing gracious, knowledgeable and friendly customer service to all guests that visit our Clif Family properties. This position will interact with Wine Club members, Fine Wine Tasting guests and Tasting Room guests. This position will support the Senior Director of Hospitality with management duties as needed across all aspects of hospitality.

• Responsible for MOD duties when Senior Hospitality Manager is out.
• Conducts daily business and ensures that all properties meet standards for operation and teams meet standards for customer service and hospitality.
• Helps with the complete guest experience at all Hospitality Properties, including Estate/Salon, creating a unique and engaging experience for our guests that promotes and builds brand loyalty.
• Effectively and consistently educates and enrolls guests in our wine club programs to include obtaining guest contact information and asking for/closing wine and retail sales.
• Sets high standards and holds staff accountable to those standards. Ensures team members follow SOPs, policies/procedures and service standards.
• Acts as a concierge to guests making recommendations to other winery, restaurant and hotel partners.
• Serves wine in accordance with Responsible Beverage Service Guidelines. Responsible for ensuring that all Hospitality team have up to date Safe Beverage and Food Safety handling certificates.
• Serves food in accordance with Food Safety Principles, Food Safety Manager for Tasting Room.
• In cooperation with Senior Hospitality Manager, provides ideas and support to enhance business development efforts through all Hospitality experiences.
• Conducts opening and closing processes for the Tasting Room in compliance with developed systems and protocols.
• Manages End of Day reporting, deposits, pour outs, closes all open orders, ensures all shipping orders and wine club forms are properly filled out and all orders tagged.
• Possesses commanding knowledge of POS systems to competently handle all sales transactions and provide support to all team members.
• Executes all new hire staff training for Hospitality experience and addresses any ongoing education needs the team or staff member needs.
• Works with Property Managers to ensure proper maintenance of Hospitality Properties including scheduling maintenance and service as needed and problem-solving property issues.
• Supports off-site tastings and events as needed.
• Attend and participate in mandatory weekly Hospitality Team meetings, monthly staff education meetings, quarterly winery team meetings, safety meetings and educational sessions.


• Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum four years of experience in a hospitality setting, preferably in a winery tasting room and/or special events capacity.
• Restaurant, Hotel, Hospitality, Culinary or Retail experience preferred.
• Wine education/training preferred.
• Passion and knowledge for food and wine industry.
• Familiarity with wine and food pairings, wine making, American wines and Napa Valley wine industry a plus.
• Strong customer service, hospitality and leadership skills (hard working, energetic, multi-tasking aficionado with keen eye for detail).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Able to multi-task and work in a collaborative team environment with unparalleled PATIENCE and selfless commitment to the customer.
• Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Navigation (social media), Winery software (E-Cellars a plus).
• Familiarity with the Napa Valley and its tourist/hospitality attractions (restaurants, hotels, wineries, points of interest, etc.)
• Tasting and evaluation of wines required.
• Must be comfortable working on feet for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work both inside and outside in varied weather conditions.
• Available to work weekends, holidays and as required for special events and activities.
• Self-starter with an ability to anticipate and pro-actively accomplish tasks
• Ability to lift 40-50 lbs. required
